We challenged. You hiked!

Back in July we kicked off the #YouGotThis Hiking Challenge, tasking Pacific Northwesterners with hiking 10,000 miles over 10 weeks. Actively Northwest and LifeWise even sweetened the deal by offering cool weekly prizes (like camping gear, sport cameras and activity-tracking devices), plus a very special grand prize — $2,500 toward an REI Adventures trip — that will be awarded to one lucky winner in October.

We’re thrilled to announce that, together, we reached our goal of 10,000 miles! Way to go, hikers! That’s almost 20 million steps! Or walking from the northernmost tip of Washington to the southernmost tip of Oregon — 14 times! It’s truly an amazing feat.

You tackled Mailbox Peak for the rewarding views, sought out  Mount Rainier’s lush wildflowers, went on overnight adventures through the Willamette Valley, took in the sights of Umpqua National Forest, hiked with your families — and even man’s best friend.

Thank you to everyone who tracked your trail mileage and shared your adventures along the way!

To celebrate the incredible achievement of 10,000 miles hiked across the Northwest, here are a few of our favorite moments from the #YouGotThis Hiking Challenge:

Although it’s no longer summer and the challenge is over, there are still plenty of great hikes in Washington and Oregon. Check out our top fall-weather picks:

See you on the trails!
