No, we’re not talking about watching fireworks on the Fourth of July. Whether you want to run, bike, or bear crawl your way through the Pacific Northwest this summer, you’ve got plenty of cool fitness adventures to choose from. Here are a few of our favorite things happening in the month ahead:
Electric Run: July 13 at 9:20 p.m.
If you combined a dance party, a festival of lights and a road race all into one, you’d get the Electric Run. Join 9,999 of your closest friends (it’s capped at 10,000) at the Portland International Raceway on July 13 for a 5K run/walk that you’ll never forget. The course, which goes around the race track, will have five to seven different light displays, such as glowing tunnels and colored water fountains that go off to the beat of the music. Everyone receives an LED bracelet, as well as a glow-in-the-dark necklace and sunglasses when they register, but costumes are encouraged. Most runners do not disappoint.
Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic: July 13 & 14
Trade in bad traffic for fresh air, gorgeous views, and a ridiculously good workout with the Group Health Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic (STP). This 200-mile, two-wheeled trek takes you from Seattle to Stumptown in either one or two days, with an optional stopover in Centralia, Wash. With a total elevation gain of 4,828 feet, STP is no cruise ride. That said, it is beginner-friendly and definitely draws a crowd. In true PNW form, food and refreshments are provided every 10 to 20 miles along the entire route, and the finish line festivities include local beer and live music.

Warrior Dash: July 20
If climbing over and under barbed wire fences, crawling through mud pits, and running across fire sounds like fun to you, you’re in luck: The Warrior Dash is coming to Washington on July 20. Located on Kelley Farm in Bonney Lake, this Army-inspired adventure race features a challenging, 5K run course with about 12 different obstacles — all of varying difficulties — for you to tackle along the way. There will be giant walls to climb, tightropes to walk, obstacles to cross and more. Each participant receives a fuzzy Warrior helmet, a quirky Warrior Dash t-shirt and a free beer. Wimps need not apply.
